The Fulginiti Gallery, located on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, invited Third Dune Productions to document sculptor Katie Caron as she developed a new body of work over the course of nearly a year for an exhibition in their space. The gallery focuses on artwork rooted in science and often pairs exhibiting artists with scientific advisors from the Anschutz campus—an approach that shaped the development of this project.

For this exhibition, Katie worked with fiberglass—a material she hadn’t used before—which added a layer of experimentation to the process. Over several shoots, both in her studio and on site at the gallery, I captured the challenges, breakthroughs, and moments of humor that unfolded along the way. The resulting documentary-style work blends vérité footage with formal interviews of both Katie and her scientific advisor, telling the story of how Neuron Forest came to life.
